INFORMATION ABOUT PATENT REGISTRATION

Initially, a profound reckon is done within the INPI - National Institute of Industrial Property – to check the eventual history data of the product.

For a patent’s registry to be performed, it is vital that the holder yields to Direção Marcas & Patentes, the following information needed for the product that you intend to register.

Hereby follow the essential information:

- Product’s purpose;
- Brief report of the product;
- Correlation with similar products;
- Introduced benefits, problems solved;
- Product’s presentation, that can in the form of: sample, photographs, or technical drawings.

Besides this, the information and documents which are necessary include:

- Full name(s) of the inventor(s);
- RG (Brazilian Identity Card), CPF (tax payer’s number), nationality, marital status, profession;
- Address.

After that, a formal document will be forwarded which regards the authorization for the patent’s registry to be performed.
If the juridical person is the holder of the patrimonial rights of the invention or improvement, his/ her documents will be needed: CNPJ (National Record of Juridical Person – it is a number that identifies the juridical person within the Brazilian IRS), document(s) of constitution and eventual alterations.
